Two Little Candles, Two Little Cakes

Two little birthdays to celebrate!

It was the Big One.  Milly and Clarabelle turned a whole year old on April 12.  To be honest, I felt like it was a big accomplishment for us as parents!  We made it a whole year.  That sounds a little pathetic but there were a couple times when I wasn't quite sure how we would make it!  They are precious babies and incredibly sweet (just like the cake they devoured) but this hasn't been the easiest year I've ever experienced, but it has been the most life changing, rewarding and moving year.  When I look at them I still can't quite comprehend that they are my little girls, it's something you think about your whole life.  Grow up, get married, have babies.  I'm here and it's surreal.  What a miracle it is for babies to be formed and grow and be born.  They are my daily reminder now of the amazing things God creates and that nothing is too small for Him.  So, of course we made it through this first year, we had Help.  I'm so thankful that I've been blessed with these two miracles and get to watch them continue to grow.

their outfits have an ice cream cone with 'two scoops'  Hehe.  It didn't occur to me until I saw the pictures

Babies in the Big Easy

Our Kentucky Wildcats recently competed in a little tournament called the Final Four. Being a part of the Big Blue Nation, of course we had to follow them to New Orleans to cheer them on.  (Well, the babes had babysitters while we went to the games).  Navigating Bourbon Street with a double stroller?  Yes, ma'am!  I mean, it has been at least two months since these babies have been on an airplane.  Ha ha!  I got basically two reactions while pushing my double wide: 1. The look of disapproval followed by a covered whisper because I took my babies to New Orleans (to this I say-Whatever...it's the middle of the day, save your judgey looks for someone who deserves them) AND 2. High-fives, handshakes, waves, applause (oh yes, all of this really happened) because I took my babies to New Orleans (and to this I say- Thank you!)  Either way, the girls were champs, right along with our team (the National Champs!).

Living at Poppi & GiGi's House

Just a few pics from our lives the past few weeks.  I must have packed away my camera cord, so I'm just now putting up a couple pics.  The girls are learning to 'pat the puppy gently' and go up and down stairs (I'd say this is where we spend a large portion of the day, not sure how many times I've said, 'sit down, turn around, scoot').  They've also spent a lot of time opening drawers and cabinets (and occasionally shutting a finger in them).  It has been very nice to have the extra helping hands.  The girls are eating almost anything now!  We started real milk a week ago.  They turn 1 year old this Thursday, crazy.

Almost Home

CB "Mom, which one did you say my toys were in?"

In the past two weeks we have closed on our old house, bought a new house and moved in with my in-laws.  Whew!  There was a point (well a few points) when I thought the packing would never end.  I mean, who has this much stuff (ahem, junk)?!  It inspired me to get rid of things instead of keeping them, while thinking, "I might use a Mexican piƱata in the very near future and what if I can't find one then?"  Not kidding.  I think the babes were a little disoriented in our disorder as well.  We all made it through (this far) in the madness that was packing a house in a matter of days... mostly during naps.  So now we are living with Ry's parents until we finish work on our house.  On the list: refinish hardwood floors, paint kitchen cabinets, replace countertops, remove and replace backsplash, remove wallpaper, paint lots of paint, replace light fixtures, and a few other miscellaneous items.  Okay.  So we won't finish all of it before moving in, but I've realized it would be too crazy to live in a construction sight with the babes.  Sanding during nap time?  I'd like to know what Milly would have to say about that.  So here we are, almost home.
